Friday Evening Festival Opener: Free guided tour of one of Newtown’s most historic buildings, Friends Meeting House/Cwrt Plas yn Dre, by Tim Chilton
You are invited to a private viewing of one of the only three Grade 2* listed properties in Newtown. It is a 15th century building important to the history of Wales being reputedly one of Owain Glyndwrs’ parliament houses originally built in the centre of Dolgellau. Come and hear a fascinating history dating back to the early 1400’s, the campaign to save it in the 1870’s and it’s removal to Newtown by Pryce Jones and it’s erection in his parkland. The talk will also describe it’s recent restoration and the techniques used. Tea and cakes will be served.
The viewing is limited to 14 people so pre-booking essential on Eventbrite. Bookings is now open.
